Five things Leo teaches us

The movie Leo (directed by Robert Marianetti, Robert Smigel and David Wachtenheim, 2023, Netflix, United States and Australia) has become our little son´s favorite movie: there are days when he watches the whole movie several times and even knows the dialogues by heart. And the funniest thing is that we have also learned the dialogues by heart from listening to it (has something similar happened to you as a mom or dad?).

The movie is quite entertaining for kids (and adults too). And as parents we found at least five valuable lessons we’d like to share with you:

+ the importance of friendship: throughout the movie it highlights the importance of friendship and how mutual support can help us overcome challenges and grow as people,

+ it is never too late to pursue your dreams: the main character in the film is worried about his age and the experiences he did not live. However, it teaches us that it is never too late to fulfill our dreams and encourages children and adults to take action to achieve their dreams,

+ the importance of self-knowledge and self-acceptance: the film highlights the main character’s journey towards self-knowledge and acceptance of himself as he is. Despite insecurities and fears, Leo learns to accept himself and understand his worth: this is a life lesson for any age,

+ to listen to and learn from others: Leo teaches a group of children the importance of listening to and learning from others,

+ facing and overcoming Fears: The film also addresses the theme of facing fears. Leo and the children learn to face their own fears, which allows them to move forward and find new opportunities for growth and happiness.

Finally, we want to share with you something that happened to us as parents when we watched the movie: it is inevitable as parents to identify with some of the families or characters involved in the movie. «Mama Bee» identified with Eli’s mom while «Papa Bee» identified with Leo.

If you have already seen the movie and you are a parent, which character did you identify with?

If you haven’t seen Leo, we recommend it: it’s ideal to watch with the family and have a good time. And if you have seen it, share your opinion with us!

See you soon!
